Donkey-Oaties Miniature Donkeys from Johnson City competed in the 19th Annual Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show held in Shelbyville, Tennessee, on July 8th - 10th. This show is one of the most prestigious donkey and mule shows in the country. This is where owners and trainers show their best animals in hopes of a title from this particular show.

Sally Armstrong exhibited her six-year-old Miniature Donkey gelding, Stock Market’s Maximum Cash ("Max"). "Max" took first place in the Halter Class for Geldings 3 Years & Older. He went on to win Reserve Champion Halter Gelding of the show. This was a major win for Armstrong and "Max".

"Max" and Armstrong went on to place second in Showmanship and third in the Reinsmanship Driving Class.

Armstrong was extremely pleased with these placings since she was competing against some professional trainers from several states. She and "Max" also took fifth place in Obstacle Driving, Driving Single Stake Race, and In-Hand Lead Line Race and sixth place in Coon Jumping.

Sonja Hartmann accompanied Armstrong on the trip. They left July 5th to arrive a few days before the show. While there, they toured Lynchburg and the Jack Daniels Distillery. (No free samples - it is in a dry county!)

They also watched several of the World Champion title classes for Gaited Mules and the Speed Racking Mules.

Things at Donkey-Oaties will be quiet until September when the state fair show circuit will start.
