For generations, We The People of the United States of America have had freedoms that no other country has ever been able to match. For generations, men and women of our United States have fought and died for our country so that their and future generations would have a better way of life than what any other country can offer: Freedom. Freedom to voice and practice our way of life. With that in mind, Johnson City hosts a spectacular fireworks celebration every Fourth of July to remind us all that we have these freedoms we so dearly hold to our hearts. This annual celebration is called "Spange Dangle Fourth Of July Celebration".
Join in the Celebration!!! The festivities begin at 1:00 pm with the washer pitching tournament getting underway. The Chamber has added a $500 add-on to the winner of the tournament. The beer booth will open at 12:00 noon and closes at midnight. There will be food and drink at very reasonable prices. This is not the big city with big city prices – this is small town family life at its best! Bring the kids, grandpa and grandma, mom & dad and your next door neighbor. There will fun activities taking place such as the longhorn bull you can get your picture taken with, a clown clowning around, and the Chamber will be giving away, to the kids, glow in the dark dreadlocks, swords and necklaces.
The music venue starts at 3:00 pm on the outside pavilion. The live music will be performed by the Bobby Beal Band, the Circuit Breakers, Billy Garza & 40 Guns, Scooter Pearce, Gypsy Cowgirls, and Soul Patch.
Break out the lawn chairs — The Spange Dangle Parade starts at City Hall on Pecan Street and makes a right going North on Nugent Street (356 Spur) to the River Road making a left and then a right into the back of the Blanco County Fairgrounds. You can park yourself at the Blanco County Court House, the City Park, the ball park, or any place in between to watch the Spange Dangle Parade. It will start at 6:00 pm and end at the Blanco County Fairgrounds. At 7:30 pm, we will present awards at the outside pavilion (Fairgrounds) for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Best Floats, the most Patriotic Float, and the Best Animal Presentation Float.
The 2010 Fourth of July Spange Dangle fireworks display will begin at 9:15 pm at the outside pavilion facing the rodeo arena. There will be a Color Guard Presentation of the Flag, Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation, ‘The Star Spangle Banner’ and then the fireworks exploding high in the air to many patriotic songs. God Bless America.
