Hill Country Memorial’s Cancer Resource Center (CRC) will present a program showing how to get the most out of summer’s fresh fruits and vegetables.

The class will be Thursday, June 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the CRC’s first-floor facility in the Brune Professional Building, 808 Reuben Street in Fredericksburg. There is no charge to attend.

Kim Thornton, registered dietitian, and Heather Fish, community liaison, will be highlighting health and healing plant compounds that are found only in fruits and vegetables.

"This class is a great opportunity to improve the nutrient density of your food choices," Ms. Thornton said. "We’ll be covering some quick-preparation techniques to promote greater consumption of these foods at the peak of freshness, as well as sharing some wonderful recipes."

Also on hand will be Cynthia England of the Fredericksburg Farmers Market who will be reviewing the market’s vendors, as well as the advantages of eating food fresh from local sources.

Reservations are requested for planning purposes and can be made by calling the CRC at 830-990-6648.
