Well, it is summertime and the living is easy. Someone important said that, but I’m not sure who. Summertime makes me think of watermelons and the fun that goes with being able to eat one.

It also makes me want to make the quilt on the front of Fons and Porter magazine. It is a lovely quilt in reds and greens and of course black for the seeds. It is also filled in with the shoofly pattern. How appropriate!

Keep those flies off your watermelon. Shooflies are done in multi-colors. This quilt is great for a picnic quilt or cozying on the couch. It is rated EASY and that is what I watch for. It is also great if you have a sister who collects items of watermelon motif.

It would be great if someone helped her get this quilt. It is so colorful and looks like a fun project to make. If you are interested, it is the May/June issue and I would be glad to share with you.

Happy Quilting, Janie
