The Johnson City Library Civil War Roundtable held it’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 25th. Mr. Wayne Guenter of Granite Shoals presented a superb program on Civil War currency, focusing on Confederate bills, scripts and bank notes. Mr. Guenter was extremely knowledgeable and brought some samples of his collection of currency to show the 20 people in attendance.

Mr. Guenter is also a Civil War reenactor and recently participated in a battle reenactment in Temple during a recent weekend. Mr. Guenter was dressed in his uniform during the presentation and brought several original Civil War weapons from his collection, including a Sharps rifle, a Burnside rifle, a hand gun and several projectiles.

Everyone was thrilled to be able to get up close to these original Civil War relics and the meeting proved to be a terrific learning experience.

Please stop by the library during June and July and check out the Civil War display!
