Things are still happening here on the porch.

I have been a little under the weather lately. I stayed at St. David’s Hospital and they discovered that I have Congestive Heart Failure and I need to watch my blood pressure. They gave me a good plan to follow, now I just need to do what the doctor says. I got to stay and visit with my two great daughters and had an enjoyable visit after my stay in the hospital.

We did have some rain here over the weekend. Some people got more than others, but whatever rain we received we enjoyed and needed.

Mark your calendar for May 6th, 2008. DARS comes to the courthouse from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. Laura LaCour, MA will be glad to assist people who have physical or mental disabilities prepare for, find, or keep employment. Gaining skills needed for a career, learning how to prepare for a job interview or getting accommodations needed to stay employed are just a few ways this program helps people with disabilities increase productivity and independence. The Meals on Wheels program has not been available this week due to a little remodeling going on in our community room. The program will be back on schedule starting May 6th, 2008.

Please come to see the presentation by Alamo Hearing Center. This is a free presentation at our community room at 304 S. Ave. F., Johnson City, Texas at 1:15 PM on May 7th, 2008. They provide free testing, free cleaning, and free batteries along with free refreshments. This brings to mind the Food Pantry at the Annex, which is on May 7th, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 7 pm. Capital Area Food Bank of Texas will be back on May 19th, 2008 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. at 304 S. Ave F., Johnson City, Texas. This service will have different food each time depending on what is in season at the time. Please be sure that your calendar is marked for their return.
