The LBJ Lady Eagle softball team claimed a bi-district title this past Wednesday, April 23 defeating the Charlotte Trojanettes 6-0 at Bandera High School. The victory was the Lady Eagles first bi-district title in many years and advances them to the area playoff round.

After a scoreless first inning the Lady Eagles put 2 runs on the board in the 2nd inning. They followed that with 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Outstanding pitching and defense held Charlotte scoreless with only 1 runner getting as far as 3rd base the whole game. Jayme Danz got the win, pitching all 7 innings for the Lady Eagles giving up 0 runs on just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts.

All Lady Eagle players played a significant role in the win. Kayla Jernigan & Katie Wilson had 2 hits for LBJ, Haylee Jernigan, Lauren Fountaine, Alex Houston, Kayla Jernigan, Avry Stolzman and Mindy Powers all scored runs for the Lady Eagles. The Jernigan sisters (Haylee & Kayla) each had 1 RBI along with Wilson. Dana Bushnell, Mae Smith and Danz each reached base twice.

LBJ will play the area round of the state playoffs on Friday, May 2nd at Poteet High School against Kingsville Academy. Support your Lady Eagles!
