This weekend will be a really busy one for Lights Spectacular volunteers, we have lots to do, and time is marching by fast. Thanks to a very wonderful friend, who is going to loan us his bucket truck, we hope to finish the lights on the Courthouse Saturday. Alton will be back in familiar equipment. We plan on having teams with trailers to set up the various yard displays, twelve days of Christmas, lighted deer and trees, the Hill Country Style sign, and the little trees that go on the Courthouse doors, and most importantly the nativity scene. Of course there is usually more work involved than just getting them in place such as fixing them and making sure all the lights are working and plugged in. If you want to help, show up at 9 a.m. and we will put you to work, and hopefully be done early enough to not miss too many ball games.

Each year when we start Lights Spectacular I know that without God’s help and volunteers it’s going to be hard to pull it off one more time. I always go to Psalms 27, and read it, especially verse 14. I started this the year they were putting the new roof on the Courthouse. It was a big mess and everyone was wishing we would just go away and come back next year. But determined as we were we figured out a way, but not alone,we waited and the Lord gave the answers. The back of the Courthouse was dark, but what we did under the circumstances was something else to add to our success. That was the first year we put the 12 days of Christmas on the back side of the Courthouse to add some lights, and it worked so well we decided to leave them there even with lights on the courthouse. Nothing can be accomplished without belief and positive thinkers. Come out Saturday and watch as these kinds of people show up and get ready to Light up Johnson City for the 18th year. God bless you all, and our community!
