Oak and pollen are trying to destroy every one. Just when the weather gets perfect, along come the allergies. I guess that is the price we pay for the beautiful wildflowers and all the lovely green.
Michala is deathly allergic to the oak pollen. I did really good this year and started her on all her medication about a month before hand. She is still suffering. I sent word to school this week that she is not to go outside.
You can see the oak pollen falling like rain out of the trees when there is a good gust of wind. I have seen the cedar trees ‘explode’ before, but I have never seen the pollen the way it is this year. The haze you see is mainly made up of pollen.
Michala had to sit in the house on Easter, while all of her cousins were outside running around and jumping on the trampoline. Mac is on two pills, two inhalers, nose spray and eye drops. When she doesn’t use the eye drops, she looks like we have been smacking her around. Poor thing can hardly stand it.
Why have allergies become so bad? One day you have itchy eyes and a scratchy throat and the next day your have full blown bronchitis or something worse. It is ridiculous. Some say it is in all the processed foods we eat. The hormones that they use in our processed foods or some type of preservative has altered the way our bodies react to certain things.
It could also be because of the crazy on-the-go lifestyles that we live. Your immune system will shut down without the proper amount of rest.
Mac will suffer through the next few weeks until everything has become stable. But the trip through is aggravating for everyone else around her. She is miserable, not getting enough sleep, and her eyes are almost raw from all the rubbing. Needless to say, she is going nuts and taking the rest of us with her.
She went to a friend’s house the other day and the mom said ‘oh, I guess I will have to close the windows’. Simple things in life, we are not allowed to do. I found two windows open in my living room during our Easter celebration. ‘Who opened the windows?’ My husband answered ‘I did, why?’ Seriously, are you trying to kill Mac? He said he forgot. So I went over to shut them and Shay was sitting on the back porch eating lunch with two of her aunts. I told them, in explanation of closing the windows, that Tokpa was trying to kill the middle child. They told me later that Shay turned to them and ask ‘Am I the middle child?!’
So I have true heart felt feeling to all of you who are suffering through this allergy season. It is to come to an end just as quickly as it came in.
