The District 27-AA honors were released last week. The Lady Eagles were well represented, posting as many athletes as their 1st place district rivals Harper. Kayla Jernigan (15 points per game, 3.5 steals per game, 6 rebounds per game), Adrienne Pabon (8 points per game, 2.5 steals per game, 9 rebounds per game) and Kelya Jureczki (3 assists per game, 4 steals per game) all were awarded 1st team honors. Kayla Jernigan was also voted the Co-MVP for District 27-AA. As a freshman, Jernigan was newcomer of the year in District 28-A. Jernigan led the team in points, free throw percentage, was second on the team in rebounds and steals and was the co-captain of the team as a junior. Adrienne Pabon was voted District 27-AA Co-Newcomer of the Year. Adrienne led the team in blocks, rebounds and shooting percentage.
Second team was represented by freshman newcomer Savannah Woodcock. Woodcock was the 3rd leading scorer on the team.
"These athletes pushed through a tough season and came together at the end to pull together a rewarding winning season. They beat in- county rivals Blanco twice and at that last Blanco game you could see the friendships and chemistry that this team had built over the season. These girls really deserve this and worked hard to get where they are. I am really proud of them," Coach Jung said.
Along with district team honors the Lady Eagles had five selected to the Academic All-District Team. This is an award based on the accomplishment of carrying a 90 or above average in all classes through the 4th six weeks. Savannah Woodcock, Kendyll Kohlleppel, Kayla Jernigan, Kelya Jureczki, and Alex Houston were the five that received this honor.
