Johnson City Quilt Guild met at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with 24 members present. Charlotte gave a quick report of progress on the upcoming Quilt Show. Our next Quilt Show Committee meeting will be in Blanco at the home of Martha Wagner on March 19th at 9:00 am. If you would like to attend this meeting, feel free to do so. We need all the input we can get.
Our program was presented by Martha with her showing us how simple it is to Chenille something. She had sewn 5 or 6 layers of like fabric and stitched her pattern on the fabric and then cut it with a special cutter to give it the Chenille factor after it is washed. It seemed to be easier than it sounded or looked to do. Thank you Martha. She also provided us with written instructions that we could add to our tip book from the first meeting.
Charlotte won the door prize for the night and we proceeded to Show and Tell, which brought us a purple star bed runner that Jane Murrell had brought to share with us.
Aritha shared a bag she had made that had zippers on it and you unzipped it and it laid out flat to make a small play quilt for a baby. It was very interesting.
Louise Paterson shared a western quilt top she is making for a donation quilt for people who helped their family when her grandson was so ill. She also brought 11 preemie quilts.
Darlene had made 5 pillows for the "One Million Pillow Challenge" that is going on now.
Marjorie shared an old quilt that belonged to her husband’s aunt. The blocks were 16-inch blocks. She got the top and had it quilted.
Irene Grote shared her Stack & Whack Quilt out of blues and browns.
Mickie Bradford shared a bag she made that was perfect for traveling or shopping. It was just big enough for the necessities.
Anjanette shared a preemie quilt with a ribbon pattern.
Denise Mabry crocheted some dishrags for Guild President, Janie Moreland. She loved them.
We had a great meeting and we keep growing. Remember-the more the merrier-come and join us. Our next meeting will be March 25, 2010. See you there.
