The porch hasn’t changed much. We still sit and visit and tell big tales and laugh as much as we can.

This being Monday and guess what folks, it is raining. I really cannot complain about the rain, first of all, because I love it and second of all, because I remember not too long ago when we really needed rain. So, welcome rain. It will make our spring beautiful.

Texas Parks and Wildlife came to our property trapping a few turkeys and relocating them to Navarro County, where they have adequate habitat and can accommodate additional turkeys with ease. They were able to trap approximately forty five turkeys. We still have about that many left here. However, no more trapping will occur this year. We thank them and we thank them for being able to transfer these turkeys to a place where they will be cared for and loved. Thanks again.

Texas Agri-Life will be here on the 11th @ 10:45 A.M. with a subject on Food Safety. Anyone can come and this is at our community room @ 304 S. Ave. F., Johnson City, TX.

The Oaks Social Club is beginning to make a wonderful presence here. They plan Sunday evening gatherings for us and sometimes it is nothing but getting to together to a watch a movie. It has been really exceptional in the fact that it provides some time for us residents to get together and share a few laughs and a good cup of coffee. Thank you!

Daylight Savings Time begins on March 14th, 2010 @ 2:00 A.M. For me, that means to set my clock one hour ahead before I retire on Saturday night so that I am not late for church on Sunday. Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring. Just to be able to enjoy an extra hour outside is wonderful and is always beautiful.

The Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) will be here on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010, from 11:00 am till all food is distributed or till 1:00 pm, whichever comes first. They come to 304 S. Avenue F., Johnson City, Texas. They are here on the THIRD Tuesday of every month. Mark your calendar! Our voluntary help is limited and this requires that everyone that can to please make every attempt to be present to pick up your food. See you there!

Catholic Charities of Central Texas will be here on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010. Please feel free to phone the number below if you have anything that needs to be resolved soon. Catholic Charities of Central Texas is providing application materials and assistance in completing applications for CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), Medicaid, Food Stamps, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Medicare Savings Program, and Long-Term Care Services. This service will be available at the Johnson City Housing Authority Community Room located at 304 S. Ave F, Johnson City, Texas. Persons may schedule appointments or be seen as walk-ins every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. For appointments or additional information contact Juanita Vargas, Outreach Worker at (512) 753-9738. This is a free service to anyone in Blanco County.
