There is a quilt pattern called Courthouse Steps and it is so appropriate for this story. We journeyed to Lampasas last week for their Quilt and Needle Art Show. They are fortunate to hold their Quilt Show in their lovely old courthouse.
I have been to this show before but the concept of it never hit me before. There are three entries to the courthouse each with steps going in and they displayed their quilts all along the walls and hallways on the bottom floor of the courthouse and one room set aside for Needle Art. The other offices were "business as usual".
It was interesting to see people at work and all this going on around them. It did not seem to upset the regular flow of courthouse business.
Going up two sets of stairs to the top floor there were vendors and more quilts displayed in the actual courtroom. We saw a wonderful display of new and vintage quilts along with lots of embroidery and other needlework pieces.
When talking to the ladies, they told me that they have had their Quilt Show in the Courthouse for years and they even have plays in the court room with a packed house each time. What a lovely vision of walking Courthouse Steps to go to a community play or a quilt show. It was a joy to be a part of it.
Happy Quilting, Janie
