The AARP Safe Driving Program course is being sponsored by the M&Ms class at the First United Methodist Church, 105 N. LBJ, on Saturday, March 13.
The class will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Activity Building of the church at Avenue E and Pecan Street in Johnson City. This 4-hour classroom refresher course is primarily for drivers age 50 and older.
The program is the first and most recognized, comprehensive, nationwide course created especially for older drivers. It addresses the physical changes that affect driving ability and behavior and ways to compensate for those changes. The curriculum is designed to remind drivers of skills and techniques once learned, but perhaps not used regularly. It also updates drivers on current rules of the road.
Cost of the program is $12 per person for current AARP members and $14 for non-members. Completion of the course may qualify the student for a discount on their automobile insurance.
To register, call the church at 830-868-7414.
