Dr. Clay Stubbs of Johnson City will be awarded the 2010 Texas Veterinary Medical Association Distinguished Career Achievement Award. Dr. Stubbs will receive this honor at the TVMA Annual Conference, which will be held March 5-7 in College Station.

Dr. Stubbs received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 1965. Shortly afterward, he served in the United States Air Force before founding and operating Highland Large Animal Clinic in Austin. Dr. Stubbs also built and operated both the Burnet Veterinary Center in Burnet and the Johnson City Veterinary Clinic in Johnson City. Dr. Stubbs dedicated part of his life as a veterinarian to building and operating a USDA-approved research facility for conducting vaccine trials for a vaccine manufacturing company by maintaining several hundred horses. Prior to establishing Horses Only Equine Mobile Clinic and forming Stubbs Equine Innovations, Inc., Dr. Stubbs served as the track veterinarian at Bandera Downs. Presently Dr. Stubbs operates Stubbs Equine Dental Clinic, another establishment he founded.

TVMA has been meeting annually at various locations in Texas for over a hundred years. The TVMA Annual Conference regularly draws more than 1,600 attendees and over 250 exhibit booths for a multi-day event of education seminars, networking opportunities, award ceremonies and committee meetings.
