If you have ever looked at a brilliant Hill Country sunrise or sunset and wished you could capture it forever, you can meet the artists who have done just that and see how they have made those scenes live on. If you love whimsy, surprise, dynamic color, there is a show you must see. The Bunkhouse Gallery’s 18th Fine Art and Jewelry Exhibition and Sale is Saturday and Sunday, March 6 & 7, 2010, from 10 am to 5 pm each day.
This vibrant art destination is located in Cypress Mill, TX, at the Wenmohs Ranch, 573 Old Spicewood Road. More than 25 Austin area and Hill Country artists will feature hundreds of works of art. You will see oils, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics, both realistic and abstract. Paintings, handmade jewelry, and ceramics will be displayed in a ranch home built in 1899 and the adjacent barn and studio.
Johnson City featured artists include Jo Petersen, Dena Wenmohs, and Joe Winfield. Others featured are Mary Barnes, Kay Donahue, Cheri Merrifield, Ruth Meaders, Travis Megason, Nancy Paton, Nancy Skelsey, Jeanice Smith, Connie Stringer, Linda Wells, Sue Yuma and many more talented artists. These artists present the landscape, animals, birds, people, old cars and trucks through passionate and enthusiastic eyes. There are Petersen’s miniature abstract "table toppers" and large works that create the "Wow!" in a room. One of a kind jewelry is wearable art.
A silent auction and original painting auction will benefit CASA for the Highland Lakes Area. During the two day show, featured artists will paint a collaborative original for this auction. As a result of the last two shows, Bunkhouse artists have donated about $2,000 to local charities.
Wine will be provided by the McReynolds Winery. Austin singer and composer Lynda Jones will provide music on Saturday. On Sunday, The Cypress Mill Marauders will perform.
