Members of the Johnson City Woman’s Civic Club gathered on Monday, February 22nd for the monthly meeting in the beautiful home of Barbara Counts.
Hostesses Barbara Counts, Susan Dean, Kay Culp, Bambi Haley, Patty Carpenter and Beverly Voron prepared a table laden with delicious snacks including fabulous chocolate dipped strawberries.
Carol Colhoun was the guest speaker. Carol is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and professional counselor and she presented fascinating tips on assertive but kind communication, boundaries, wants vs. needs, and handling the inner child.
President Diane Burke opened the business meeting by recognizing February birthdays and cares and concerns. Then she called on Karen Weber and Princess Gruben, co-chairman for the Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo event to be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The annual Library benefit begins with dinner served from 5:30 to 6:30pm with Bingo following dinner. The fun-filled evening will take place at the Johnson City United Methodist Church and will include a fabulous silent auction and the opportunity to purchase a homemade dessert delivered to you each month for a year. Tickets for dinner may be purchased from any Woman’s Club member or at the Library. Tickets will also be sold at the door and take-out dinners will be available that evening for purchase.
Becky Crider reported that the silent auction items are displayed with bid sheets at the JC Library. The items can also be previewed on the Library website: www.jclibrarysite.org. Just click on the sidebar – "auction items" to see photos and descriptions. Bids are being accepted either at the Library or online. There are some really great auction items this year. Be sure to check them out.

Rumors are also circulating that the Lion Tamers have connections with members of the Texas State University Girls Softball Team. This could be quite interesting! The big game will be held on Sunday, May 2nd. Save the date!
