Snow Fun
Dear Editor:
Wasn’t the snow fantastic? I just sat at home and watched it all day. Watching the news and calling family I saw that most of us enjoyed our winter storm.
Seems like people all over had a good time with it. Except those driving and skidding off the road and those who got D-Hall for making snowballs at the high school after school had been dismissed.
Watching the news, I saw kids throwing snowballs with their teachers and even a principal. People at Williamson County Courthouse having snowball fights.
Family in Goldthwaite called and reported having a snowball fight at school. It was so cool they said.
Well, I am so glad most of us can enjoy life’s little blessings. Snow, once every 5 years or so in central Texas being one of them.
Sometimes we just all need to be a kid again.
Janie Moreland Old newspaper story. Back in the 80’s and before cell phones, we got 4 inches of snow on press day. We were printing in Killeen at the time. The publisher in Burnet had a 4-wheel and said if I could get the flats to him he’d take it the rest of the way. It was after 10 PM when he got back to Burnet. We loaded my station wagon and I started home. It took me almost 3 hours to get back to Johnson City. I only saw one car, he’d slid off the road. I found the highway dept truck and sent them back for him. My daughter had called and the truck was coming to find me. By the time we got the paper to the Post Office the sun was coming up. Those were good days. Shelly Harris
