The LBJ Eagle boys basketball team lost 2 tough, thrilling games this past week. On Friday evening, they took on the state ranked Randolph Ro-Hawks. The Eagles got off to a good start taking a 14-12 lead after the first period and a 24-18 halftime lead. Randolph cut into the lead in the 3rd period and the 4th quarter was a tense, tight affair. Randolph held a 3 pt lead going into the final seconds but Jacob Sisson hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. The thrills continued in OT as the Eagles opened up an early 5 point lead but Randolph fought back and hit a 3 pt shot with 20 seconds to take the lead. Johnson City couldn’t connect on a shot in the closing seconds and fell 48-46 in one of the most exciting games of the season.

Kris McDonald was the leading scorer with 25 points followed by Sisson with 9 points and Jordan Jones with 8 points. Wyatt Eubanks led in rebounds with 7 followed by Sisson with 6, Jones with 5 Laramie Blackwell with 4 and McDonald with 3 rebounds . Eubanks also led in blocks with 3.

On Tuesday evening the Eagles traveled to Blanco to take on the Panthers. Blanco got off to a quick lead pulling ahead 9-6 after the first period and 23-18 at halftime. Blanco increased the lead to 33-25 going into the final quarter but that is when the Eagles caught fire, scoring 17 fourth quarter points. The game came down to the final minute but the Eagles were not able to pull out the victory as they fell 47-45. McDonald led the team in scoring with 20 points followed by Cody Atwood with 12 points and Jordan Jones with 7 points.
