Despite the cold, a total of 26 members and guests attended February’s meeting of the Community Garden Club of Johnson City. February’s program by guest speaker Dan Holland was "Butterflies and their Plants". Armed with the knowledge of key nectar and host plants for a starter butterfly garden, many members will be refreshing their gardens with suggested plants.

President Pearl Hedlund presided over the business meeting. Among the many ongoing community service activities by members, members are busily preparing crafts and plants to participate in two upcoming annual events; CASI’s Texas Men’s State Chili Cook-off on March 27 and Johnson City’s Wildflower Festival on April 16. Other business discussed included approving $10,500 to be donated to different Blanco County and Johnson City charities and community organizations.

Members were treated to valentine-themed refreshments and departed with Dan’s Guide to Butterfly Garden Plants. Between a much-anticipated bumper wildflower crop and strategically planted butterfly gardens, Johnson City should be a kaleidoscope of color this year!
