On Thursday, the LBJ Middle Schools Eagles took on Hunt in their last game. The boys fought hard and won two of three. In the first game, Juan Aguilar scored 8 points as the C team blanked Hunt in the first half, leading 17-0. The C team finished hard. They won the game 23-6 and finished the season undefeated (8-0). Hunter Sasko did a great job leading on the transition. Armando Elizondo had several rebounds and easy put backs to lead to 6 points. Trevor Ulrich did a good job of playing defense.
In the second game, the Eagles encountered a little more resistance. In the first half, the Eagles were off, giving up open shots and they had early foul trouble. Even though they came out flat, they still led at half 13-9. In the 3rd quarter, the Eagles came out firing. They went on a 15-2 run, led by Will Rutherford’s 11 point effort. Michael Maenius and Dalton Crofts led the ball down the floor. They worked nicely to find the open players when Hunt would screen. The double teams left Logan Cantwell open and he contributed with 6 points. Jake Rassett and Dakota Sturgeon did a great job fighting for rebounds. The Eagles finish the season on a 5 game win streak and 5-3 overall. Good job Eagles!
The 8th grade game was full of excitement! Mikin Patel and Preston Workman did a good job of pushing the ball down the court and each contributed 7 points. Anthony Capra and Jose Mesa fought hard for rebounds in a physical game. Eduardo Martinez and Garrett Deleon played well on the defensive side blocking and denying.
