Pedernales Electric’s Partners in Learning program has awarded $1,000 to the Johnson City Community Education Foundation, which serves students enrolled in the Johnson City Independent School District.
"The donation helps us raise scholarships for graduating seniors and grants for teachers with innovative teaching techniques and ideas," said Larry Milner, the foundation’s chairman. "Last year, the foundation was able to give five scholarships."
The Johnson City Community Education Foundation is one of 17 education foundations receiving contributions this year. The organizations recognized were established to benefit students in local school districts by supplying funding and support for innovative academic programs, grants and scholarships.
"Pedernales Electric supports education in a variety of ways," said PEC Assistant General Manager Jeanell Davis. "Students deserve every opportunity to excel in and out of the classroom, and Partners in Learning is our chance to help make those opportunities happen."
PEC members and other area residents can go to www.pec.coop to see a complete list of organizations receiving Partners in Learning funds and learn how to make personal contributions to the Johnson City Community Education Foundation or other area groups.
Pedernales Electric District Coordinator Jerry Wisian presents a $1,000 Partners in Learning contribution to Johnson City Community Education Foundation Chairman Larry Milner on Jan. 19, at PEC’s Johnson City Service Center.
