The LBJ Eagles defeated the Blanco Panthers in a district contest this past Friday, January 15. The victory improved their district record to 2-2. LBJ got off to a hot start, scoring the first 9 points of the game. The Eagles led 21-6 after the first period. LBJ continued the hot offense and intense defense in the second period scoring 20 points to take a 41-19 halftime lead.

LBJ continued to attack on the offensive and defensive end in the second half, scoring 18 3rd period points to take a 59-27 lead going into the final period. The Eagles played a solid overall game to come away with a 71-40 victory. LBJ had a season high 54 rebounds in the contest.

Kris McDonald led the team in scoring with 18 points followed by Cody Atwood with 15 points and Jordan Jones with 14 points. Wyatt Eubanks, Jones, London McQueen, Laramie Blackwell and Jacob Sisson each had 8 rebounds. McDonald and Nick Mahrou each had 5 rebounds. Sisson led the team in assists with 4 followed by McDonald and Jones with 3 each. Sisson also led the team in steals with 9 followed by Atwood with 5.

Earlier in the week the Eagles traveled to San Antonio to take on the 16th ranked team in the state, the Cole Cougars. The Eagles fell behind early and could never catch up, falling 65-32. Atwood led the team in points with 14 followed by McQueen with 9. Eubanks was the leading rebounder with 4, McDonald led the team in assists with 3 and in steals with 4.

This week the Eagles will travel to Randolph to take on the Ro-Hawks on Tuesday evening and then play Comfort Friday, January 22 at home. The varsity game is tentatively scheduled to begin around 8 pm.Please come out and support your LBJ Eagles boys basketball teams.
