On Monday, January 18, 2010 at around noon, a fatality accident occurred along Highway 290 West. Kristin Wagener, age 18, from San Antonio was traveling East on 290 towards Johnson City, when she crossed the road, hit a guard rail, then hit a pickup truck that was traveling West towards Fredericksburg. Traffic was diverted down Sandy Road to 281 for a few hours while the various crews and law enforcement worked the accident.

The driver and passenger of the pick up truck, Jack Cobb, age 83 and Pearl Cobb, age 82, husband and wife from Dripping Springs died in the accident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
