The shop project show at this year’s Blanco County Stock Show has a record 35 entries. Students who are enrolled in agriscience classes at Johnson City or Blanco are eligible to enter projects built during class in four different categories at the stock show. In addition 4-H or FFA members under their parent’s supervision are also eligible to enter the show. With the exception of the Grand and Reserve project overall all these items are bid on by silent auction throughout the show. The person with the highest bid at the end of the live sale gets the item to take home and enjoy. The categories that students exhibit in are wood, metal/wood combination, metal only, and trailer. The projects are judged on workmanship, design, finish, difficulty and plans. This year’s judge is Don Harris, agricscience teacher at Ingram High School. There are a wide range of excellent projects this year for the home, or patio. A brief description of this year’s projects is listed below. The bid board is located in the main show barn. Interested bidders should include name or initials along with a contact phone number with their bids. Projects will have cost of materials listed and minimum bids are usually 50.00 over cost of materials. Projects can start as little as 100.00. Payment options will be listed on the buy board. Please come in and support these students. Many of the exhibitors compete only in this category because they are unable to afford an animal project and you can reward them for the skills that they have learned in class.
