The LBJ Eagles captured 2nd place at the annual Llano Holiday tournament held on December 29 & 30, winning 3 out of 4 games including 2 games that were decided in the final seconds. In the contest that clinched 2nd for LBJ the Eagles defeated the Mason Punchers 47-45 in overtime. It was a game filled with clutch shots by each team and great defensive stands as the Eagles forced 2 missed shots by Mason in the final moments of overtime to claim the victory. Leading scorers for the Eagles was Kris McDonald with 11 points followed Wyatt Eubanks and Jordan Jones with 10 points each. Eubanks led in rebounds with 9, McDonald led in assists with 5 and Jones led in steals with 4.
Earlier in the day the Eagles won another thriller decided in the final seconds defeating San Saba 43-39. The Eagles made an outstanding defensive stand in the final few seconds not allowing San Saba to get off a good shot as they worked to tie the game. McDonald and Jones were leading scorers with 11 points each followed by London McQueen with 9 points. McDonald led in rebounds with 9 followed by McQueen with 7. McDonald led in assists with 3 while Jones led in steals with 6. Eubanks and McQueen combined for 5 blocked shots, Eubanks with 3 and McQueen with 2.
On the first day of the tournament the Eagles defeated Blanco 49-34 and were defeated by Llano 54-50. In the Blanco game McDonald led the team with 17 points followed by Cody Atwood with 14 points. Eubanks and Jacob Sisson had an outstanding rebounding effort with Eubanks pulling down a team season high of 20 rebounds, he was followed closely by Sisson who had 15 rebounds.
McDonald and McQueen were selected to the Llano All-Tournament team.
