Make a difference in 2010! If you have never been married or given birth, and are between the ages of 19 - 29 years old, applications are now being accepted for the title of 2010 "Miss Blanco County International"! Miss Blanco County International will represent her area at the Miss Texas International Pageant, March 26 – 28, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas.

The young woman ultimately selected as "Miss Blanco County International 2010" will become an ambassador from the Blanco County area and receive an official title and sash! The young lady crowned Miss Texas International will receive a prize package valued at over $15,000 and the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2010 Miss International Pageant in Chicago.

The American Heart Association is the official charity of the Miss Texas International Pageant. In 2008, the International Pageants joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and each state titleholder will champion heart disease as a national platform in addition to promoting their own platform throughout the year.

Go Red for Women captures the energy, passion, and intelligence of women, to work collectively to wipe out heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women. While 1-in-30 American women die of breast cancer, almost 1-in-3 will die from cardiovascular disease. Our passion is to unite women in this fight…even at an early age. Our involvement in the movement can help save lives. For more information go to www.GoRedForWomen.org.

The current reigning "2009" Miss Texas International is Jade Monfils of Dallas, Texas. Jade dedicated her reign, as Miss Texas International, to the "Positive Effects of Mentoring and After School Programs". Throughout her reign, she has worked with numerous programs including Big Brothers and Sisters, Bea’s Kids, The Boys & Girls Clubs, & Stand Up for Kids. She speaks on the importance of education and shares the message that "anything is possible, if you only dream".

Growing up, Jade had two working parents, and had many friends that were "latch key kids". She has seen, first-hand, the dangers of gang violence and the importance of mentoring and after school programs. Boys and girls who are involved in after school programs are 50% less likely to drop out of high school, and 2.5 times more likely to go on to further education. For more information on after school programs or how you can become a mentor, visit: www.bcga.com, www.bbbs.org, and www.beaskids.org.

Contestants will compete in Interview, Fitness Wear, Fun Fashion Wear and Evening Gown. (There is no talent or swimsuit competition and no experience necessary!!!)

Young ladies living, working, or attending school in Blanco County who are interested in applying should write for an application:
