Add Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour and you know you’re on the right road to somewhere; throw in a camel and it can only be "The Road to Morocco", the best of the classic "road" comedies the trio made in the 40s and 50s.

It’s also the first in this year’s Free Family Movie series at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City, at 7 pm Monday, Jan 11. Besides free admission and refreshments, the program includes a Disney cartoon and a chapter of an adventure serial.

The free movies continue in February with an unusual Valentine romance, "The Notebook", a love story for the age of Alzheimer’s, starring Gena Rowlands and James Garner.

The March murder mystery is a cat-and-mouse match between Dana Andrews and Clifton Webb over who killed Gene Tierney in "Laura". What makes this whodunit a classic is their performances, plus the music, plus the uniquely unexpected plot twist.

The April surprise is "Bedazzled" — the original — the funny one, with Dudley Moore, Peter Cook and Raquel Welch — not the silly re-make. (And this one’s not silly?) The surprise is that they’re actually showing it in church!

May brings an adventure thriller, Steven Spielberg’s "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark", starring Harrison Ford and Karen Allen. Yes, it’s the one with the snakes, but you can close your eyes for that part.

The summer series is three musicals, two of them classics and one...well...just take this as your Carmen Miranda warning.

Meanwhile, take advantage of the free movies every month.
