Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site invite everyone to join in the Christmas cheer at the 40th Annual Tree Lighting on December 20th, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. This tradition was started 40 years ago in the Hill Country community by President and Mrs. Johnson. This is a memorable family evening for all to experience the German heritage of the Texas Hill Country and continue the legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson and his family.

Prior to the event visit the LBJ Park Gift Shop and Bookstore for a tasting hosted by Texas Traditions from 2pm-5pm. Also shop for your unique Christmas gifts and enjoy 15% off all purchases throughout the day. From 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Tweed Scott will be autographing his book "Texas-in her own words" as well as E. Joe Deering signing his book "Loving That Lone Star Flag."

Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with holiday music by the Boerne Village Band. As dusk turns to darkness, enjoy carolers, a live nativity and the spectacular lighting of a beautiful native cedar tree. Enjoy refreshments and a visit from Santa himself. Take time to extend holiday wishes to patients at Hill Country Memorial by signing a holiday card to be delivered to those patients who will not be home for the holidays. Then, step back in time to the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm for delicious cookies amid glowing lanterns and a traditional candlelit German Christmas tree.

In the spirit of the season, this is a free family event. LBJ State Park and Historic Site is located 14 miles west of Johnson City and 13 miles east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290 in Stonewall. Please dress for the weather and bring a flashlight to enjoy this memorable evening.
