Exciting things have been happening at the Library all year, our community has been blessed with the many opportunities that we have all enjoyed this year.
Something new will be taking place at the library after the first of the year, a mural depicting Hill Country Scenes will become part of the Library. We are fortunate to have in our community a talented artist, Lee Casbeer who has a shop in the Old Theater on Nugent. The Board of Trustees of the Library has contracted with Lee to paint this mural, and the good news is it will be started after the first of the year!
Having had the opportunity to meet Lee and his wife Sandra in their studio I’m very enthused about this project. LMC Murals is a wonderful addition to our community. Lee lived in Fredericksburg before moving to Johnson City in February this year. He loved the old theater, it was perfect for his work, and studio. Lee has been painting for eleven years, he came by his talent naturally, but has studied in Italy, and he and his brother Matt started their current business.
Their murals are large and small, some of you may have seen them in Mamacita’s in Kerrville and San Antonio. They helped with the restoration work on the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, and have a 12’x23' oil in the Republique Restaurant in Kerrville.
Lee and Sandra have opened their studio and would love for you to come by and visit, meet Picasso, watch Lee at work, and see some of his art work on display. If you would like to see the full range of his portfolio and bio check out his web page at www.Lmcmurals.com.
The Library is proud of this project, many of you have contributed to the mural, and donations can be made to add more scenes and nostalgia to the mural. Lee and his work were shown on the Texas Country Reporter in 2004, hopefully we can get them back to Johnson City to see our beautiful Hill Country mural at the Library!
