North Blanco County EMS has recently purchased a new vehicle. The vehicle is a Ford F150 crew cab 4X4 which will serve many purposes. This vehicle is an upgrade to what has been used in the past. NBCEMS has been utilizing a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria which was used by the Johnson City Police Department prior to that.
It was time to either put some money into the Crown Vic or just get something else. NBCEMS decided to go the route that the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office went and that was to get a vehicle that could withstand some of the rough roads in Blanco County. The new truck is being purchased with the funds that are donated to NBCEMS by the Emergency Services Auxiliary Garage Sales and not tax dollars.
Due to some of the remote areas that the ambulances cannot reach, Unit 325 will be utilized to extract patients and move them to the awaiting ambulance. The unit will also be used to shuttle EMS personnel to and from extended period standbys when it is time to relieve crews on scene. It will also be used on large incidents that will require an EMS Command to be established as well as be mobilized with one of the three Ambulance Strike Team Leaders that NBCEMS has within its ranks, when called upon by the state. Unit 325 will also be used to round up and shuttle supplies along with the mass casualty trailer when it is requested.
