The Business and Arts Committee of the Hill Country Council for the Arts (formerly the Cibolo Arts Council), Sonja Howle, Chair and the Honorary Co-Chairs, Renee Benson and Susan Howard Chrane, announce the next quarterly Business Speaker Series on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Blanco.
The December event will be a luncheon at The Uptown Blanco Arts and Entertainment District’s Restaurant featuring Renee Benson as one of the speakers on a three-member Blanco Forum.
Ms. Benson is owner and president of Renson Enterprises, Inc. and Uptown Blanco Arts and Entertainment, which includes a Restaurant, Courtyard, Ballroom and Art Center, all currently open. Remaining buildings in various stages of completion are a Textile Studio, a Tavern, a Performing Arts Theater and retail spaces. Benson is active in several civic and professional organizations, including the National Automotive Dealers Association, the American Angus Association and the Blanco County Citizens Assembly (Wheels & Feet division).
“Ms. Benson’s vision and dedication in restoring the area now known as Uptown Blanco is a great example of how investment in the arts can showcase a community, create additional opportunities for retail, restaurant and lodging and economic momentum. We’re honored to showcase Blanco and Ms. Benson’s efforts,” said Howle.
The Business and Arts Committee was created to showcase businesses that partner creatively with the arts for mutual benefit. The committee is finalizing a contract with Rockefeller’s Business Committee for the Arts (BCA) to become the 10th affiliate in the nation.
