The LBJ High School and Middle School cross country teams participated in the Comfort cross country meet this past Saturday, October 10. The Eagles competed in the varsity girls, varsity boys, jv boys and 8th grade girls divisions.

In the varsity girls division, senior Kelya Jureczki finished 18th out of 92 runners with a time of 13:44 over the 2 mile course.In the varsity boys division the team of Sergio Alvarado, Ryan Franklin, Cole Roemer, Jorge Regino and Adam Lefford placed 14th as a team with 300 points. The meet consisted of schools from all classifications. Roemer was the top finisher for the Eagles completing the 3 mile course in 18:41, Lefford was the next Eagle runner finishing in 18:43. Regino followed with a time of 19:14, next was Alvarado at 20:40 and Franklin at 20:54. All Eagle runners improved their best race time by a minute or more.

In the JV boys division the Eagles team placed 5th with 111 points. Zach Reveal was the top finisher for the JV with a time of 22:52. Next was Wyatt Eubanks with a time of 23:05, he was followed by James Malone with a time of 23:57. They were followed by Aubrey Humphrey with a time of 29:46 and Charlie Moore with a time of 29:49. All JV runners ran their best times of the season.

In the 8th grade girls division the Lady Eagles placed 2nd in the team competition with 67 points. Brooke Wood was the top finisher with a 7th place finish in a time of 13:41 she was closely followed by Whitney Wood with a time of 13:48. Both Brooke & Whitney Wood received medals for their performance. Kaitlyn Barrientes was the next finisher , she completed the 2 mile course in 13:52 for a 12th place finish. Also finishing in the top 20 was Kiley Wood who finished 16th in a time of 14:12. Glory Maenius improved her best race time of the year by completing the course in 16:17

The Eagles do not have a meet this week and will participate in the Bandera cross country meet on Wednesday, October 21. Scheduled race times for the Bandera meet are 7th & 8th grade girls at 4:00, 7th & 8th grade boys at 4:30, varsity girls at 5:00, Varsity & JV boys at 5:30.
