The Eagles played a good game Friday night, but fell short to the San Saba Armadillos, 27 to 35. This week the Eagles were short some experienced players due to injury, but still showed great effort both defensively and on offense.

After a few series, Junior Kris McDonald got momentum going with an intercepted pass. He returned it for 45 yards, where the Eagles were able to start scoring when Junior Trent Rodriquez took it in from 6 yards out for the Eagles first touchdown. The extra point was no good. The Armadillos answered back with a touchdown of their own.

In the second quarter Quarterback Cody Smith connected with McDonald who ran past several players on a 46 yard score, extra point was good by Rodriquez. The Eagles defense was able to hold San Saba scoreless in the second quarter. Several good plays were turned in by the defense, Senior Garrett Goodwin in line play and linebacker Senior Dylan Rivera. The Eagles closed the half in the lead 13 to 7.

The Armadillos were first out of the gate with the start of the third quarter, but the Eagles answered back with a very nice 73 yard pass play from Smith to Junior Luke Neely. This set up a 16 yard pass play from Smith to McDonald for an Eagle touchdown followed by a Smith – McDonald 2 point conversion. Sophomore Dustin Harvey stopped the Armadillos from scoring a touchdown deep in the Eagles end of the field with a fumble recovery.

The Eagles opened up the fourth quarter with a good series and scored the touchdown on a 2 yard run by McDonald. This score gave the Eagles the lead, but the Armadillos were able to come back with two unanswered touchdowns. Final score Armadillos 35 Eagles 27.
