The LBJ Eagle High School cross country teams ran in their first meet of the season this past Saturday, September 19 at the Ricardo Romo Classic sponsored by UTSA. The meet was held at the Brooks City Base course which is where the Region IV-2A cross country meet will be held in November.

In the JV boys division the Eagles had 3 runners. Sophomores Wyatt Eubanks, Avery Gawlik and James Malone. Each completed the 2 mile course in their best time of the year. Eubanks finished in 14:25, Gawlik finished in 15:08 and Malone finished in 17:05

In the varsity girls division, Kelya Jureczki completed the 2 mile course in 15:05 to finish in the top 3rd of the competitors. In the varsity boys division the Eagles had 5 participants. The varsity boys course was slightly over 3 miles in length. Cole Roemer, a sophomore, was the top finisher at 21:03, he was closely followed by Adam Lefford, a sophomore who finished in 21:15 and then Jorge Regino, a senior, who finished in 21:23. Ryan Franklin completed the course in 24:04 and Sergio Alvarado finished in 25:00. Both Franklin & Alvarado are sophomores. All the boys ran well in their first varsity meet. The Eagle varsity boys team placed 14th in the team standings among the 2A schools that fielded a team.

The Eagles do not have a meet this week and will next run at the McNeil meet in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park on Saturday, October 3. This is the same course where the state cross country meet will be held in the middle of November. Come out and support your Eagle cross country team
