The junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Comfort on Saturday for a day long tournament. They played four matches and competed well in each one.

The Lady Eagles beat Brooks in their first match with scores of 25-14,-21-25 and 15-8. Luling won the second match with scores of 18-25 and 19-25. After lunch the Eagles played an excellent match against Junction but fell short with scores of 23-25 and 20-25.

The final match of the day was against Harper. The Lady Eagles stepped up their game and competed very well against the Shorthorns. They lost the first game 18-25, but came back strong and won the second game 26-24. The final game fell in Harper’s court with a score of 8-15.

“It was a long day with lots of great volleyball,” said Coach Smith. “We struggled through several injuries and a couple of illnesses, but the girls stepped up and played well. I was very proud of their efforts. Lacy Butler did a great job the entire day of serving, passing and hitting. Kendyll Kohlleppel worked hard all day to get strong sets to our hitters. Andrea Workman also had some key serves and spikes while Yvette Torres did a great job on the back row.”

This Friday the Lady Eagles will play their second district match at home against Comfort.
