The acting company, Second Act Troupe, will open its second season with a performance at 7.30 pm Saturday October 3 at the United Methodist Church in Johnson City with a production that includes the world premiere of a one act play Ashes to Roses written by former Wimberley resident Dorey Schmidt.

The playwright is well known for her musical play Star of the Hills which was performed for four consecutive summers at the Emily Ann theatre in Wimberley.

Since moving to Lubbock two years ago Dorey has been working in a different genre and is now specializing in writing one act plays.

Because Second Act Troupe, a company of mature and experienced actors, specializes in one act plays she felt that her first effort, Ashes to Roses, might be the perfect fit for them and this was confirmed after a read through of the play by an assembled cast in Wimberley.

Filling out the all comedy bill the company will also perform The Still Alarm by the celebrated American playwright George Kaufman and Cruise Missile by English playwright Jean McConnell from her series Deckchairs.

Tickets are $12. For reservations with assigned seating call (512) 618-3355 anytime or pay at the door.
