The Lady Eagle Varsity had tough matches last week against Bandera:18-25,16-25,22-25 and Boerne:11-25,16-25,6-25 falling to both teams in 3 games each, The ladies rallied in the third game against Bandera when they were up 22-18 – it looked like they were going to win. Fantastic serving by Chandler Wagner helped them get ahead. “We had the lead and should have finished it – but Bandera came back to win it”.

The most exciting news however is the Lady Eagle Varsity winning the district opener against Randolph in three straight games, 25-12,25-19, and 25-12. “We have been playing much bigger opponents hoping to get perfectly ready for our district matches – this hard work has paid off”, said Coach Voron. Excellent setting and hitting combinations by Kourtney Smith (21 assists) and Adrienne Pabon (16 kills) were spectacular! Defensive specialist aka “libero” Jessie Rios made some perfect passes to set up the great offense. The Lady Eagles are starting off District right with a 1-0 record!

The Lady Eagle JV volleyball team got off to a rough start against Boerne last Friday night and was defeated in the first game 12-25. They regrouped and focused on moving to the ball and competed on a more confident level in the second game. Lacey Butler did a great job defensively as well as with her serving. Kelsey Heavner also put several points on the board with serving and some strong attacks. “We played point for point with this older and more experienced team,” said Coach Kellie Smith. “Boerne got a few quick hits and some strong serving in the end, but I am very proud of the way the team played. The score in the second game was 22-25, but these freshmen are getting better each game.

The JV won their match against Randolph in three very quick games as well. Great serving from Savanah Woodcock helped seal the win. They have a JV tournament in Comfort where they will see lots of play. Great job JV!!

Come see the Lady Eagle Volleyball team for their next home match Friday, September 18th when they play Comfort in JC.
