The Hill Country Toy Run Association will be holding a general meeting, Sunday, Sept. 13th at 2:00p.m, at the Blanco County Fairgrounds. For those who want to get involved or volunteer, this is your chance. As always, we need help in all areas, such as the kitchen, traffic control, setup, cleanup, & helping in the BBQ area, to name a few. Coordinators from all departments will be there to answer your questions. This is an open meeting for anyone interested in attending, becoming a vendor, or making a donation for door prizes or auction items. This year’s 17th annual Johnson City Pig Roast will be held at the Blanco County Fairgrounds, Oct. 9th-11th. For those of you who don’t know, this motorcycle event raises money for the Toy Run to the Cherokee Home for Children in December, as well as underprivileged children in our area. With the monies raised from last year’s event, we were able to donate almost $30,000.00 to the home in the way of gifts for the children at Christmas and a cash donation to the Home. We also established the Hill Country Toy Run Scholarship fund and provided scholarships and laptops to college bound Home graduates. Additionally, we assisted several Blanco County children who, due to special circumstances, were in need at Christmas time. We are a 501(c)3 organization and have no paid members, only volunteers. This community has always been wonderful in their support, so come on out and help us make this a memorable event for the kids. If you have any questions, call 868-7693. We look forward to seeing you there!
