If you’re like most Americans, you have lots of stuff. We are a country of consumers. We buy, buy, buy, and most of it ends up in boxes in our closets and basements. Unfortunately, we don’t clear out our house as much as we clutter it up. To avoid the pack-rat syndrome, consider donating to the Emergency Services Auxiliary sale. It’s a great way to get rid of unwanted stuff. The ESA is in need of gently used household goods, kitchen ware, books and of course, furniture. They do not accept TV’s or computers or large house household appliances.
If you’ve never been to a garage sale before, now’s the time to throw out any misconceptions about them you may have. They are NOT all filled with people’s “cast offs”! Many people donate stuff they can live without because of the clutter, or because they’re moving and it’d be cheaper to replace the item than to move it. Donations are accepted now at the EMS building at 105 Bill Watson Drive.
ESA organizers are encouraging people to bring in donations and help out at the event. They want to remind people to bring quality items to the event.
“We do desperately need people to bring things for the sale,” ESA President Irma Sanchez said. “We need to bring things that aren’t headed to the trash.”
The Emergency Services Auxiliary has their semi-annual community wide garage sale to benefit the North Blanco Emergency Medical Services and the Johnson City Fire Department.
The next garage sale is on October 1 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm; October 2 from 10 am – 7:00 pm; and on October 3 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
