2008 Blanco County Fair and Rodeo Queen Farewell Speech

2008 Blanco County Fair and Rodeo Queen Farewell Speech

Thank you for attending the Blanco County Queen’s Coronation this evening.

Serving as the 2008 Blanco Co Fair Queen has truly been an honor and a privilege. Thank you for allowing me to represent each one of you as an ambassador of our beautiful county which is full of wonderful people. Throughout the year I have had many opportunities to meet new people and promote our great fair. I am so proud to call Blanco County my home.

I know a simple thank you is hardly enough, but I would like to thank my court: Avry, Kennedy, and, Megan.

We had so much fun traveling around the area together participating in parades. I have three new friends who I will remember for the rest of my life.

In true Texas fashion, the summer parades were sweltering hot, while the winter parades were quite chilly. Unfortunately, in the last year, we never rode in a parade where we had to battle the rain! Maybe we will get some soon!

I would like to thank the Blanco County Fair Association and all of the directors. A special thank you goes out to Mr. Scott Scott, who is the association president and Mrs. Tammy Marrs, who coordinated the parades. Can you even imagine what time and planning goes into organizing our Fair and Rodeo? I think of all the weekends the fair directors gave up in order to take us to the surrounding communities, put together our float, and drive us in the many parades that we participated in.

I speak for myself, as well as my court in thanking our families for all the support they have given us this past year. I know it is not easy getting a teenage girl out of bed at 6 AM on a Saturday morning! (if you do not believe me, just ask my mom!)

For the 2009 contestants, each of you look so beautiful tonight and I have enjoyed getting to know you all a little better. I am so glad that you participated in this contest. You have all gained skills that will help you in the future and I hope that you have had fun.

A bit of advice for the new queen, cherish every moment and make as many memories as you can. Before you know it you will be up here giving this speech and helping to crown the next Fair Queen. Blanco County, it’s been a privilege and an honor to have been your 2008 Fair and Rodeo Queen. Thank you for everything. It’s been an experience I will never forget.

No matter where my education or career takes me, I will always be proud to say that my home is Blanco County.
