WACO, Texas — Baylor University has selected more than 2,700 recent high school graduates as recipients of scholastic awards for the 2009-2010 academic year. All these scholarships are awarded on the basis of class rank and/or SAT/ACT scores.

Baylor’s top award – the Regents’ Gold Scholarship – provides National Merit finalists, who have indicated Baylor as their university of choice, with a full tuition academic scholarship to Baylor for up to eight semesters of undergraduate study beginning in fall 2009.

Baylor also awarded students with one of three other merit scholarships awarded on the basis of a combination of class rank and SAT or ACT scores: the President’s Gold Scholarship, which provides $40,000 to $58,000 for eight semesters; the Provost’s Gold Scholarship, which provides $32,000 to $40,000 for eight semesters; the Deans’ Gold Scholarship, which provides $10,000 to $22,000 for eight semesters.

A private Christian university and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution, Baylor University is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with “high research activity.” This blends with Baylor’s international reputation for educational excellence built upon the faculty’s commitment to teaching, scholarship and interdisciplinary research to produce outstanding graduates.
