*****It’s so hot Mary and Tommy Thurlkill left town and headed back to the mountains in Mexico where it’s cool. Does that count?

*****Diane Beagle went to San Antonio on Saturday June 27th for a get together with cousins. It was great driving by the “old stomping grounds” of San Antonio again. She had relatives from Minnesota, and Wisconsin as well as San Diego come in and cousins from San Antonio, Floresville and Spring Branch all came in to reminisce. Diane had 2nd cousins here that she hadn’t even met before. There were about 15 cars at the event and plenty of BBQ ribs, chicken and sausage with all the fixings! On a hot day like that there was cold beer and “San Diego” Margaritas floating around too.

*****Chris Matthews, son of Steve & Charlotte Matthews, is home on leave from Fort Campbell. The family celebrated the holiday with hot dogs, family pictures and Angie Bacon’s birthday.

*****Darryl & Sharon Weisenbaugh just got back from Hawaii with their daughter Becky, son-in-law Chris, and granddaughter Ashly. They had a great time!! They went to Pearl Harbor & the Dole Plantation. Becky, Ashly, and Sharon went horseback riding on the beach at the Turtle Bay Resort and then that afternoon went to the Polynesian Cultural Center and toured seven of the Polynesian Villages, a Luau. and that night they went to the Horizon show performed by the students of Brigham Young University. The next day they went on a submarine, down about 120’ and saw several species of fish, turtles, etc. That night they went to the Magic of Polynesia Dinner Show. This was all in Oahu. Then they flew over to Maui that next day, and went to the Maui Ocean Center, and did sight seeing in Lahaina. That evening Becky and Chris went out for their anniversary (4 years) on a dinner cruise and Darryl, Ashly and Sharon hung out at the pool and walked the beach. The next day they hung out at the pool which was beautiful, with waterfalls and a 150’ tube that Chris and Ashly slid down. That night they went to the “Old Lahaina Luau” rich in Hawaiian culture. They saw a pig brought up from being cooked in the ground, the food and show were great! The next morning at 3:00 am Darryl, Becky and Chris went on a deep sea fishing trip. They went out about 45 miles and caught 3 skip jack tuna for bait but did not catch the big one. Before they left Maui, Chris surprised them with a helicopter ride over the island & thru the mountains. It was breath taking!! They flew back that evening to Oahu. On the last day they went to the Aloha Stadium Flea Market & Punch Bowl Cemetery. They flew all night to get home. It was hard to come home to 100 plus temperatures, when it was 85 degrees there. What an unforgettable trip!
