It has been hot and we need rain. I thought I would start by researching the possibility of rain @ NOAA’s National Weather Service which says “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.” Lightning Safety Awareness is this Week, June 21-27. So folks pay attention to the weather and guess what I saw... no possibility of rain for this week.. Visit http://www.noaa.gov to read up on weather, it is very informative. To avoid being struck by lightning, the National Weather Service recommends that you: Get into a fully enclosed building or hardtop vehicle at the first rumble of thunder; Stay indoors for 30 minutes after the last thunder clap; Monitor the weather forecast when you’re planning to be outdoors; Have a plan for getting to safety in case a thunderstorm moves in; Do not use a corded phone during a thunderstorm unless it’s an emergency; cell phones are safe to use; Keep away from plumbing, electrical equipment and wiring during a thunderstorm. After reading this I found it rather interesting to read further and found that the site might be worth sharing with you. You can track the weather yourself and watch for changes and all you have to know is your zip code.
My husband, James, has been ill. He is in Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas. I hope to have him home soon. We also have another tenant, Betty Simon, who had knee surgery. My resources say she is doing well and looking forward to being back among us. Get well to both of you.
I heard that the Foot Clinic was a big success. This is a wonderful service to our community. Texas Health Care Solutions of Blanco, Texas does this for us. Watch right here for their next return.
I heard that our Third Friday Luncheon was a huge success. They had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and rolls all thanks to Barbara Gourley with Texas Health Care Solutions of Blanco, Texas. They also had homemade ice cream and cookies. Charline and George Read made the ice cream. It was delicious and enjoyed by all. A big thank you goes to Texas Health Care Solutions, JCHA, and JCHA Tenant Association for a wonderful gathering. It takes many people to pull off a luncheon and it seems to me that it was done rather well.
Now here comes a rare request, by Dorothy Kemp of Corpus Christi, Texas. She reads my article every week and keeps tabs on all of us folks in Johnson City, Texas. She wants to hear about Patsy Sharp who works here at the Johnson City Housing Authority. Well, Patsy is here and enjoys being a big part of our community. Patsy sends a special hug your way, Dorothy. Thank you for reading my article each week. It is nice to have a following.
