*****Alice Wadsworth, Donna Sultemeier’s mother, will be coming down from Fort Worth on July 1st to spend 2 1/2 weeks with James and Donna to make Roman shades for their windows. She will then go back to Fort Worth on July 18th to celebrate her 80th birthday.

*****Bruce Zbytovsky was at home recuperating from triple by-pass surgery last month. He was finally gaining strength and getting around better although he was back in the hospital this last weekend.

*****Also at home recuperating is Ralph Moss after a few days in Seton Hospital. Heal quickly, Ralph! And I guess he is as he was seen on Monday driving his red corvette.

*****Get well wishes to Louise Gravenor. Louise had knee surgery on June 18 and is doing very well at home with daughter Peggy Ginn.

*****Congratulations to Charlene Sultemeier on her retirement! News is June 30 is her last day at JCISD.

*****Jan Christensen has returned home from Lewisville after visiting with her new granddaughter, Layna. Her daughter Casey and Chris Skelton’s new baby was born on Tuesday, June 9, weighing in at 7 lbs 5.4 ozs. Everyone is doing great—and Jan LOVES being a grandmother! She came back just in time to head up First United Methodist’s Vacation Bible School the week of June 22-26. On June 29, Jan will be admitted to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio to have the first of two surgeries to remove tumors located in her head.

*****Joe & Carol Summy are the proud new grandparents of twin boys. These are Kendra’s boys and you will have to get the scoop from Carol or Joe.

*****Last Monday on June 15th, the Emergency Services District held their regular monthly business meeting at the Johnson City Volunteer Department. Several members & officers of the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department, North Blanco EMS, and Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department attended the meeting presided over by the Emergency Services District Board – Ed Hullum, Jerry Wenmohs, Kay Odiorne, Gene Yentzen, and David O’Donnell.

*****The regular monthly meeting of the North Blanco Emergency Medical Services was held last Thursday evening, June 18th at the EMS Station. Before the meeting The EMS Board of Directors also met. They are President Randy Brodbeck, Vice President Bonnie Hayes, Secretary Margie Daniel, Treasurer Pat Dildine, Officer-at-Large Joy Watson and Director Tim Vasquez.

*****From last Thursday through Saturday, the seven chapters of the Singing Women of Texas (a group sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas) met and sang at the Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston. Mary Weirich of Johnson City and Vickie Pautz of Blanco were among the nearly 200 ladies from all over Texas who presented a concert Saturday night under the direction of Deborah Tidwell, retiring director of the Southeast (Houston) chapter and former interim director of the South (San Antonio) Chapter, of which Mary and Vickie are members. This gathering was in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the SWOT. Next June, the Singing Women of Texas will travel to New England for a series of concerts and missions activities. On the way home, the South Chapter stopped Sunday morning in Columbus, Texas, to sing for the morning service of the First Baptist Church of that city, with Mary in her usual position at the piano as accompanist for the group.

*****Vacation Bible Schools at both the First United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church are going strong every evening this week. Last week were Bible Schools of the the Church of Christ and the First Christian Church. The kids of Johnson City certainly have choices!

*****The Youth of the First Baptist Church are traveling to Dallas on Friday to Youth Evangelism Conference. What an experience!

*****The Bible Family held their reunion at the Community Park. Over 150 family members attended the event.

*****You might be a Johnson City native if you can remember the covered grandstands at the Blanco County Courthouse. How nice on those hot August days & nights to sit in the shade or maybe climb to the very top if you were a teenager & do a little spooning.
