In November 2001, 30-year-old Christina Stewart was shot once in the head and killed in Round Mountain. On Wednesday, June 3, Doyle Weeks, 44, of Blanco County turned himself in after being indicted for first-degree murder.
The case, which was inactivated a year after Stewart was killed, was reopened after Sargeant Bob Shelton, the deputy in charge of the criminal investigations division for the Blanco County Sherriff’s Office, joined the sheriff’s office last year and started going through cold cases.
While looking over the Stewart file, Shelton realized that all of the original evidence was still present, and started looking into it.
Weeks was released from the Blanco County Jail on a $100,000 surety bond.
