The Texas Men’s State Chili and Barbecue Championships will proudly host a special musical performance by Dean Strickland on Saturday, March 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Blanco County Fairground Showbarn.

Dean Strickland also known as The Hitchhiking Guitarman takes his musical career one ride at a time. Through his hard work, talent and admitted “good fortune,” he has safely traversed across Texas, Tennessee and California via the rides of more than 1000 generous strangers, picking up fans and bolstering a supportive publicity base as he went. He recently completed a disc of original songs that he wrote and recorded on the road called “Hitchhiking Guitarman”. Dean Strickland’s “Hitchhiking Guitarman” is a country-gospel album with sincerity as its greatest asset.

Other festivities on March 28 include plenty of good food, craft vendors, silent auction, fun for the kids, and judging of the best beans, chili, ribs, chicken, and brisket in Texas. The public is invited to participate in the judging, beginning at 11:00 AM. Admission is free. For more information, contact Alan Dean at 512-567-2835 or pepperdean@ctesc.net.
