The LBJ Eagles varsity boys basketball team played 2 district games this past week against two very tough and talented district opponents. On Tuesday, January 13 LBJ hosted the Cole Cougars. The Eagles fell to Cole 43-14. LBJ played great defense throughout the game holding the high scoring Cougar team to just 43 points. Michael Redman was the high scorer with 6 points, Jacob Sisson was the leading rebounder with a total of 15 boards a career high for him. Kris McDonald led the team in steals with 3 and Sisson also led the team in tips with 9.

The Eagles traveled to Blanco on Friday evening, January 16 to take on their long time rivals the Panthers. The first half was very tight with each team playing well, Blanco held a slim 23-21 lead at halftime. Blanco outscored the Eagles 14-2 in the 3rd period to lengthy their lead. The Eagles worked hard in the 4th period to cut into the deficit, but fell short. The final score was 49-33 Blanco. Wyatt Eubanks led the team in scoring with 7 points, Sisson led in rebounds with 7 followed by Eubanks with 6 and Blake Simpson with 5 boards. Simpson also led the team in steals with 4 while Jordan Jones led the team in tips with 5.

The Eagles played the state ranked Randolph RoHawks at home on Tuesday nite, January 20. This was parents nite for all Eagle basketball players. They will then travel to Comfort to play the Bobcats on Friday evening, January 23. Please come out and support your Eagle basketball teams.
