Mr. Henry Edward Krueger, age 86 of Hye, Texas died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in a Fredericksburg nursing home following an extended illness. He was born on October 16, 1922, in Wharton County near the Taiton community, the son of the late Edward August Garett Krueger and Bennie Lee (Nora) Linton Krueger.

Mr. Krueger had been a resident of Hye since 1978 and was a former resident of Fredericksburg and Wharton. He married Fannie Mae Koehler on May 23, 1942, in Wharton and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2005. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. In Wharton, Mr. Krueger was associated with the Lone Star Beer Distributorship for thirty years until his retirement in 1975. In 1975 he moved with his wife to Fredericksburg and then moved to Hye, Texas in 1978. He was a member of the VFW in Wharton and Fredericksburg and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall, Texas. More than anything else he enjoyed being with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. He loved fishing, hunting, playing dominoes and dancing. He was also a former member of the Good Sam Club. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army.

Friends called for visitation Wednesday evening, January 21, 2009, at the Wharton Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 22, 2009, at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Reverend Barry Sharp officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with military honors provided by American Legion Post 87 of Wharton.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dorcas (Cass) and Pat Martignoni of Victoria, TX and Carolyne & Wayne Tinsley of Spring, TX; sons and daughters in law, Charles and Sherry Krueger of Hye, TX and Kenneth and Diane Krueger of Marshville, N.C.;Sister, Ruth Lane of Bay City; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers are Michael Tinsley, David Roman, James McCarver, Clay Pope, Charles Henry Krueger and Tye Krueger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernest, Hal and Dustin Chudalla and grandson-in-law, Bob Massengill.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025 – 1532.

Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
