*****Paul & Sherry Jenkins were out of town this past weekend planning a wedding for October 2009 in Houston for her nephew and finance. Sherry began to feel bad Saturday but blamed it on something she ate. She continued to have severe pain and nausea. When they came through Austin Sunday afternoon they headed for the Emergency Room at South Austin. Sherry ended up having an unexpected gall bladder surgery but is healing quickly.
*****Did you get a chance to participate in the silent auction on Friday, January 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall at the Blanco County Fair Grounds during the Stock Show? They had baked goods, arts and crafts, photographs, gift baskets, etc. in the auction. The Blanco County Exhibit Hall showcases hard work from our local youth in Blanco County. This year there were over 100 entries! Not all exhibits were up for the silent auction, just what the youth decided they could part with.
*****Save the Date! It’s Mardi Gras Time: The Johnson City Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held Thursday, February 26th at the Blanco County Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to this banquet which will include entertainment by the Hill Country Community Band.
*****The Hacker twins, Katie and Maddy had a fun day out with Nanny Mary on Friday. She loaded the girls up and they attended their first Blanco County Livestock Show. They enjoyed the goats and even petted a few but the pigs were just ‘ok’ until they started to grunt and squeal and then not so much fun. They were all decked out in cute matching coats and hats made for them by Jan Christensen for Christmas and sporting precious cowboy boots with rhinestones, a gift from their daddy. These twins are ‘people magnets’ because they are twins and so cute, or we think so. They also had two hot dogs before Nanny Mary called it a day.
*****Harry and Patty Carpenter went to see the exhibits at the Stock Show and were very impressed by the absolute beauty of the work the students did on their projects. Congratulations go to each one who worked so hard. It was very much appreciated. They especially were proud of the coffee table made by their granddaughter, Erin O’Brien.
*****Tokpa, Emily, Michala and Shay Zbytovsky spent Sunday afternoon at Cabela’s in Buda. Shay could not get enough of all the animals. Yes she brought home yet another stuffed animal.

*****Ten ladies helped Pearl Hedlund celebrate her birthday on Monday. Her actual birthday was on the 18th. But after a thwarted attempt to eat at the Cotton Gin in Fredericksburg, they had a fantastic time at the Fredericksburg Brewery.
*****Pat Stokes is in Deer Creek Rehabilitation Center in Wimberley. She is in room 208 and would love to hear from anyone. She has been there since the 14th after leaving the hospital in Fredericksburg. Pat would love to get cards letters or just anything. She had Viral Encephalitis again so that is why she had to go to rehab this time.

*****Tip for the week: Coffee Filters - Not just for making Coffee.... 13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. Soaks out all the grease. 14. Keep in the bathroom. They make great razor nick fixers. 15. Use as a bowl for popcorn or snacks, then discard.
